Krakow, HOTREC 77th General Assembly, 18 October 2018 – HOTREC, the umbrella association of Hotels, Restaurants and Cafés in Europe, elected today its new President and Executive Committee (ExCom) for a two years mandate, starting on 1 January 2019.

The goal of the newly elected ExCom will be to foster innovation and to promote investment among the 1.9 million enterprises of the sector, promoting smarter and better regulation at the core of the new EU mandate. 2019 will be marked by European elections and a renewal of the European Parliament and Commission. It will be our task to convince policy-makers to make the 2019-2024 EU legislature a success for tourism by unlocking SMEs and microenterprises’ growth potential and by fostering entrepreneurship” commented Mr. Zimmer Christensen.

HOTREC, the European umbrella association of hotels, restaurants and cafés, welcomed during its 77th General Assembly on Thursday 18 October, the Turkish Tourism Investors’ Association (TTYD) in its membership.


“We warmly welcome the Turkish Tourism Investors’ Association in the HOTREC family. This new membership expands even further HOTREC’s representativeness in a highly touristic country such as Turkey, as TTYD becomes our second Turkish member. This represents one more example of HOTREC’s successes in promoting the hospitality industry’s interests across Europe. We look forward for TTYD’s contributions to HOTREC’s many activities” commented Ms. Susanne Kraus-Winkler, President of HOTREC.

Piektdien, 21. septembrī, finanšu ministre Dana Reizniece-Ozola kopā ar Latvijas Viesnīcu un restorānu asociācijas (LVRA) prezidentu Jāni Pinni un Latvijas restorānu biedrības (LRB) prezidentu Jāni Jenzi parakstīja vienošanos starp Finanšu ministriju (FM) un viesmīlības nozares pārstāvjiem, nosakot mērķus un uzdevumus turpmākajai sadarbībai.

LVRA un LRB šīs vienošanās noteikto mērķu sasniegšanai apņemas noslēgt viesmīlības nozares ģenerālvienošanos. Savukārt Finanšu ministrija savas kompetences ietvaros apņemas veikt darbības, lai ieviestu samazināto pievienotās vērtības nodokļa (PVN) likmi sabiedriskās ēdināšanas pakalpojumiem, ja viesmīlības nozares uzņēmumi noslēdz nozares ģenerālvienošanos ar būtisku, reālajai tirgus situācijai atbilstošu vidējās algas pieaugumu.

Brussels, 20 September 2018 – The European hospitality industry welcomes today’s announcement of
Commissioner Jourová on the commitment of Airbnb to comply with the Commission’s and the EU
consumer authorities’ demands. The measures to be implemented by Airbnb shall contribute to a fairer
tourism market in Europe benefitting especially consumers. HOTREC has been calling for a long time to
distinguish traders from peers in the so-called collaborative economy to foster fair competition.
