Nordic-Baltic-Classification System
Nordic-Baltic Classification System
In December of 2006 the first meeting of the Nordic and Baltic Hotel Classification Council was held in Copenhagen, during which the delegated representatives from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland confirmed the agreement reached in August of 2006 at the meeting of associations of hotels and restaurants of Nordic and Baltic countries in Vilnius on integration into a unified Nordic-Baltic classification system of hotels with unified principles in all participating states for conferring of stars.- each participating state retains its own system for hotel conformity assessment and certification and standarts, in case of necessity making improvements therein;
- in each participating state the unified minimal hotel classification criteria are accepted in every classification categories from 1 to 5 stars;
- basis for the joint Nordic – Baltic hotel classification sign is the design of plate developed in Denmark with blue blackground and red letter "H" ("Hotel") in the centre;
- in future it is envisaged to create a joint internet website with the list of classified Nordic – Baltic hotels.
The start of introduction of the unified Nordic-Baltic hotel classification system is an effective marketing tool in the recognisability of hotel services of Baltic and Nordic countries as a unified region and their quality in Europe and entire world. Our region is one of the first in the world, where the agreement on a unified hotel classification system has been reached. Therefore those hotels of Latvia, which have successfully and timely have performed the initial or repeated procedures for conformity assessment and certification, as well as supervision at the LLC „Hotel and Restaurant Centre” accredited by the National Accreditation Bureau of Latvia, will be automatically integrated into the joint Nordic – Baltic hotel classification system.
